Renovation and Widening of Golden Horn Bridge, Istanbul - Turkey:

The purpose of the Renovation and Widening Project of Golden Horn Bridge was to ease the Golden Horn crossing and the local traffic by means of constructing two new steel bridges at both along sides of the existing bridge and new roads to be joined to the first Peripheral Highway including the associated link roads. The total length of roads in the scope of the project is 4 Km.

The project comprises, besides the renovation of the existing Golden Horn Bridge, the construction of two steel bridges with a total length of 822 x 2 = 1644 m. supported by concrete piers and steel pipe piles with 8 spans, and three reinforced concrete approach viaducts with a total length of 363 m. connecting the steel bridges to the main carriageways. The project covers also one reinforced concrete overpass bridge with a length of 110 m. and eight reinforced concrete underpass structures with a total length of 236 m. located on the slip roads. At various locations within the project area, 1530 m. long retaining walls, and box culverts and pipe culverts of different sizes with total lengths of 104 and 480 m. respectively had been built.

These followings are the main services given by TEK-YEN within the Project Scope:

  • Feasibility study report,

  • Preliminary and final design of the bridges, roadways and all related structures,

  • Reinforcement of old bridge by steel structures,

  • Removing the paint of the old bridge by sand blasting and re-painting. This work had been performed by MIM AS , as TEK-YEN’s one of the associates firms.
